SECTION 1

ORGANIZING

Organizing (also spelled organising) is
the act of rearranging elements following
one or more rules.

Anything is commonly considered organized
when it looks like everything has a correct
order or placement. But it's only ultimately
organized if any element has no difference
on time taken to find it. In that sense,
organizing can also be defined as to place
different objects in logical arrangement for
better searching.

Organizations are groups of people frequently
trying to organize some specific subject,
such as political issues.

Historically, humanity has always tried
to organize itself. The organizing of
information can be seen since the time
humans began to write.

SECTION 5

COMMUNITY
ORGANIZING

Community organizing is a process where
people who live in proximity to each
other come together into an organization
that acts in their shared self-interest.

Unlike those who promote more-consensual
"community building," community organizers
generally assume that social change
necessarily involves conflict and social
struggle in order to generate collective
power for the powerless. A core goal of
community organizing is to generate
durable power for an organization
representing the community, allowing
it to influence key decision-makers on
a range of issues over time.

In the ideal, for example, this can get
community organizing groups a place at
the table before important decisions
are made. Community organizers work
with and develop new local leaders,
facilitating coalitions and assisting
in the development of campaigns.

SECTION 6

COMMUNITY
ORGANIZATION

Community organizations (sometimes known
as community-based organizations) are
civil society non-profits that operate
within a single[citation needed] local
community. They are essentially a subset
of the wider group of nonprofits. Like
other nonprofits they are often run on
a voluntary basis and are self funded.

Within community organizations there are
many variations in terms of size and
organizational structure. Some are
formally incorporated, with a written
constitution and a board of directors
(also known as a committee), while
others are much smaller and are more
informal.

Recent evolution of community organizations,
especially in developing countries, has
strengthened the view that these "bottom-up"
organizations are more effective addressing
local needs than larger charitable
organizations.

Examples

Typical community organizations fall into
the following categories: community-service
and action, health, educational, personal
growth and improvement, social welfare and
self-help for the disadvantaged.

Fundraising

Fundraising for community organizations can
be very different from that of charities and
larger nonprofits, which benefit from
endowments, institutional and government
grants, individuals, and other diverse
funding sources.

Smaller community organizations typically
rely on donations (monetary and in-kind)
from local community members and sponsorship
from local government and businesses.

Community fundraisers can take a people-focused
approach to fundraising. Relationship building
is a key part of the people-focused approach.
Relationship-building communicates the benefits
that the organization offers to the local
community. Open days and other such events are
very valuable relationship-building events.

HOWTO
ORGANIZE
A
FUNDRAISER

To organize a successful fundraiser, you
need to consider the demographics of the
target group, that is, who they are, what
they enjoy, and how you can appeal to them.

Based on this information, and a review of
your groups resources, you will need to
form a plan and follow it to succeed.

1. Choose your target group.

2. Think about cost.

3. Pick a suitable time and date.

4. Find a good location.

5. Advertise.

6. Get your supplies together
and plan what you will need to
pull your event off successfully.

SECTION 8

FUNDRAISING
TIPS

There are lots of tried and true fundraising
events, from coupon book sales, chili cookoffs,
carwashes, and bake sales, to community garage
sales and raffles. Look at the resources you
or your group have, and use them to the best
of your ability.

If you have a lot of potential labor, but
little money, you may want to organize a
cleanup team to do lawn work or house
cleaning for contributions.

Look at other groups who have held fundraisers
in your community, and see which type are most
successful.

Talk to local businesses and see if they are
willing to donate facilities or products to
help you with your efforts.

Use team work and organization, and plan
the event from start to finish.

Form a committee to make sure all the
planning and gathering of materials is
accomplished.
