VERNACULAR ENGLISH
(AAVE)
African American Vernacular English (AAVE), also known colloquially
as Ebonics, is a variety of English spoken predominantly by African
Americans. While often stigmatized, AAVE is a legitimate and complex
linguistic system with its own set of rules, history, and social
implications.
