8
FIMININE TRAITS
WE LOVE

As I grew up in this society, I learned that more-masculine characteristics
were the traits that earned me more respect and acceptance—much more so than
my innately feminine ones.

So, for the longest time I pushed my assertiveness, independence, logic, etc.
as a way to prove myself worthy of existing in this world.

One of the most important concepts I took away while getting my gender studies
degree was that people, regardless of their biological gender, can have and
exude any characteristics that they so please. I also learned that there are
some vitally important traits that are linked to femininity that we as a
culture could celebrate more and develop further. I should not be afraid to
reveal these traits; in fact, I should embrace them and utilize the full power
of my femininity.

In honor of Women’s Day, here are eight feminine-esque traits worthy of our
full-embrace and celebration

Thoughtfulness

This trait has many layers to it. For example: there are elements
of nurturing, care and consideration. People who are thoughtful
often plan ahead to make everything go smoother and they make
sure other people are remembered and know that they are valued.

Beauty

There’s a softness, a slight curviness, a delicateness to feminine
beauty. It’s striking, but it doesn’t strike. It can be touching,
mesmerizing, heart-stopping. It’s not something that has to be
forced—it exists naturally.

Empathy

This exists when a person sees someone else suffering, relates to
the pain, and tries to ease it—even if the only easing available
is mutual understanding.

Vulnerability

Taking risks with expression and emotion is what helps connect us
as humans; it’s a powerful characteristic to have and though it
might create more opportunity for pain or heartbreak, it also
opens up more opportunity for deeper loving relationships.

Intuition

The “gut” feeling we often get when something either really good or
really bad is about to happen, when we listen to it, become in tune
with it, we solve problems before they come to fruition. It can feel
almost psychic in nature but in reality it’s just being in harmony
with the surrounding environment.

Patience

Even-tempered and capable of being the calm during every storm.
Patience is definitely a learned skill and an oh-so-helpful one
to have in everyday situations.

Sensuality

Sensuality is the willingness to slow down, explore and discover
what really works while utilizing all that the body has to offer
in regards to sexual pleasure. The fun is in the journey not the
end result.

Radiance

It’s that internal glow that shines so bright it reaches the skin’s
surface and makes one’s entire aura fill a room with positive energy.

Of course this isn’t an all-inclusive list; and just because these
traits are often associated with the feminine doesn’t mean we all
can’t learn to incorporate them more into our lives. They are
indeed fabulous traits to possess, some might say that learning the
proper ways to execute these characteristics to the fullest would
expand one’s feminine power for the betterment of not just one’s
personal life, but the surrounding environment as well.

We should definitely take the time to celebrate the women in our
lives as well as all the overlooked feminine traits that make us
beautiful and well-rounded individuals.
