BLOG

A blog (a truncation of the expression weblog) is a discussion or
informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting
of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries ("posts").
Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so
that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page.

Until 2009, blogs were usually the work of a single individual,
occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject
or topic. In the 2010s, "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed,
with posts written by large numbers of authors and sometimes
professionally edited. MABs from newspapers, other media outlets,
universities, think tanks, advocacy groups, and similar institutions
account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic. The rise of
Twitter and other "microblogging" systems helps integrate MABs and
single-author blogs into the news media. Blog can also be used as a
verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

BLOGOSPERE

The blogosphere is made up of all blogs and their interconnections.
The term implies that blogs exist together as a connected community
(or as a collection of connected communities) or as a social
networking service in which everyday authors can publish their opinions.
Since the term has been coined, it has been referenced in a number of
media and is also used to refer to the Internet.

HOW TO START
A BLOG

Do you want to start a blog to promote your brand, or just share your
thoughts on a subject that you love? Blogging is an inexpensive way to
share your thoughts with the world. Learn how to develop your concept,
launch your blog and market your content.

Tips

Have a strategy for your blog and know whether to write evergreen content
(that will remain relevant forever) or news-based content that has higher
short-term appeal but quickly becomes irrelevant.

Some sites allow you to make money off your blog by using an Amazon Associates
ID or by placing Google AdSense advertisements. If people click on your links,
then you could make some residual income from your blog.

Many people like to read blogs from their mobile devices. Make sure that your
blog site has a mobile version that is optimized for smartphone or tablet viewing.

Before you set up your blog, take some time to make sure you aren't duplicating a
blog name that already exists. Also, check your domain name to make sure that it's
unique enough not to get mixed up with other sites.

One should be very particular about the content that needed to be posted on the blog.
Search on the wikipedia, reddit and wikihow for the latest topics and a proper analysis
of keywords.

If you want to maintain a blog for your business, but you aren't confident about your
writing skills, hire a professional writer to write your posts for you.

Get into a routine of blogging. Make it part of your day. Soon, you will notice things
during your day and think, "Hey, I'll blog about this." You can also add reminders to
your calendar program so that you are prompted to blog on a regular basis.

If your blog is informational, always be checking your facts. People won't want to
return to your site if they realize you don't have your facts straight!

Make sure you have some rules about what to do and not to do on your blog so people
don't go crazy and say inappropriate and bad things.

If you don't want people to know about everything of you, then don't post it.

Don't post something boring like " I had a salad for lunch!"

Type about something you are interested in. Video games, religion, birth control,
TV shows, etc.

When you have a follower, ask them to spread the word.

If you don't want your followers to know you personally then keep the blog anonymous.
If you want you can make up pseudonyms for your friends, family and for yourself.

Warnings

Avoid posting anything that infringes on the privacy of others if you allow everyone
to read your blog. If something is personal, avoid using last names at the very least,
or make up a name for that person. Also, avoid posting private pictures of other
people without their permission.

Remember that what you post is visible to the world, so be careful about how much
information you share. Also, in certain countries, blog posts that are critical of
the government or otherwise "offensive" could get you into serious trouble. Be smart
about what you post.

Prepare yourself for some unkind comments, especially if you are blogging about
sensitive topics.

Spend time reading a basic book or website about avoiding infringement of intellectual
property and defamation when blogging. There are some good basics available both online
and in book form, to help you steer clear of potential legal troubles. Knowing a little
can save you a lot.

Be wary of unwarranted attention. Don't give out too much personal information such as
your full name, your location or other identifying information.
